1. Before you even think about using your teeth whitening trays, do this:
The gel will work more effective if you brush and floss really well before inserting the teeth whitening tray. Also, it is a good idea to try the teeth whitening trays on without any gel to see how they fit…make sure they feel comfortable. It is recommended that you clean and dry the trays prior to each use. Any moisture present in the teeth whitening trays will slow the process.
2. Applying the Bleaching Gel into the teeth whitening tray:
When you are filling the teeth whitening tray with gel, do not fill the tray. Begin, by placing a small drop of teeth whitening gel half way up on the inner front surface of the tray (towards the front of each tooth). Do not feel like you need to spread it around…this is super important! Save the left overs in the syringe for the next teeth whitening tray to be filled on the next treatment. Most teeth whitening trays take about 0.5ml of gel per arch. One little hint…You really only need to fill the teeth whitening tray for the front 6-8 teeth as no one sees the back teeth.
3. Inserting the Teeth Whitening Trays:
Insert teeth whitening tray in the mouth over the teeth. Press the tray firmly against the teeth. Wipe the excess gel, which seeps over the brim of the tray onto your gums (this will help with gum sensitivity). This part takes some talent…hold the teeth whitening tray with one hand and wipe the excess off (using a cotton swab is a cool trick but make absolutely sure what ever you use it is dry…NO WETNESS!). Now, you are wearing the teeth whitening tray (see below).
4. Teeth Whitening Trays Wearing Time:
It is recommended that for your first time teeth whitening, use for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Check it out after the first go and see how the tooth sensitivity feels. You can increase wearing time if there is little to no sensitivity.
5. After you remove the Teeth Whitening Trays:
Rinse off your teeth and brush any remaining gel away. Brush, floss and continue routine dental cleaning. Apply a desensitizing gel if your teeth become too sensitive.
6. Taking care of your Teeth Whitening Trays and Gel:
Clean teeth whitening trays with a toothbrush or a cotton swab and cold water. Store trays in the tray holder. Keep gel in a cool place or refrigerator (DO NOT FREEZE). Most manufacturers have a shelf life of 1 year for the gel and longer if refrigerated (again, read the details of your product).
By following these simple steps you are sure to get the most out of your teeth bleaching and a great white smile.
